I can't believe its been almost two months since I have written (terrible!!!) I guess we have been busy doing other things.....Eric has been traveling quite a bit for work, which has left me as a single mom some weeks. Combine single mom, active little Rylan and 8 months pregnant and apparently you get no blog updates!
We have been doing well (with some rough spots along the way!!) Ry continues to amaze us with his energy level and independence as well as some defiance. :) He does wonderfully until you need him to pick up, take a shower, go pee, take a nap...... we are TRYING as hard as we can to not engage in power struggles with him as we have learned he is a very strong willed little boy! We love this about him and despise it at the same time. He can be amazingly sweet and pretty nasty all in the same five minutes. I remember Hayden going through this phase and thinking/hoping Ry never would (and now he is!!)
Naptime has been a battle of the wills as we had tried to put his dresser in his bedroom as it would be nice to have his clothes in his room instead of his closet and the baby's room but we have since then realized now is not the time - it is too much for him. He stacks the drawers, climbs and sits on top of it and hides it and says its his "puppy house!" We are certain we will get there in time, trying not to be frustrated about it and just remembering he is who he is and we love him for that.
He is quite inquisitive about how things work, go together and come apart! I got out of the shower the other day and he had unplugged the monitor cord, plugged it into the covered outlets (had taken the outlet covers off!) and was pretending to put air in his basketball. Can't get mad at him for his curiosity but scary when he is playing with outlets?! YIKES!!!!
He is very excited to meet his baby sister who he calls, "Ella, Olivia, Brooklyn, She, and a few other made up names." He has been a great help getting her nursery ready and loves to put his hands on my belly and feel her move. He also continues to enjoy talking to her via my belly button and asking when she is going to climb out. We are at 6 weeks and counting, hoping and wondering if she will come a little early!
I can't believe in less than a month Rylan will be turning 3!!!! I really feel like he is a little boy now and not a toddler/baby anymore. He surprises me with his helpfullness (most days!) and is typically very kind and sweet. He had a blast emptying the dishwasher with my help the other night, continues to love to cook, do yard work and play with Legos! He is working on mastering his letter names and starting to do some sounds - his favorite is H for Hayden as Hayden is his best friend ever and he loves every second he gets to be with him. It is such a special thing to have them so close as they are certainly the best of friends (most days!!!)
We have been going to a new park near us that Ry loves to hike at, they have wild bunnies everywhere and he tries to catch them! He also loves to dig in the dirt/sand whenever he has the chance to. He is working towards being potty trained and does great if we have him go every hour but still isn't interested in telling us when he has to go. I am confident we will get there, just hoping its by July 22nd as he is signed up to start preschool and must be fully potty trained to go (no pressure!!!!)
Here are some pictures from the hiking park, Ry and his buddy Blake and a fun afternoon/night at Jambo! and indoor amusement park and Uncle Adam's Bday barbecue!
I hope to be back to the blog much sooner than two months to update it, will have bday pictures and spring break fun to come soon! AND - the exciting arrival of baby girl!!!!!!
